Brixton / Dulwich Wedding - Naomi and Felix’s Wedding Day
Every year I get the chance to photograph weddings in some really interesting places in the UK and abroad & when I first talked to Naomi & Felix they mentioned that they were going to get married in Brixton and I felt immediately excited about capturing images in such a special part of london and the home of the late and great David Bowie.
Naomi & Felix both have a huge love for Brixton and London and so they decided that on the day of their wedding we would take a walk through the heart of Brixton offering a fabulous opportunity to capture them.
Her very talented mum Coryn had created and designed Naomi's wedding dress which was an amazing construction and looked beautiful. There was a real buzz of energy around the home and in the air - the wedding day had started!
It may sound like a Cliche but as a wedding photographer I do feel extremely honoured to be part of people’s wedding celebrations and this special day was no exception.
Myself and the bridesmaids were taxied across to the historic Christ’s church in Dulwich and very quickly I headed inside of the Church to have a quick chat with the Vicar, Rev John Watson.
Now the day was in full swing and I was busy capturing candid and natural images of Felix being greeted by many of his wedding guests who were all grinning from ear to ear and within no time at all Naomi and her father (as planned) entered the gardens of the church and I made my way out of the church to photograph this special moment in time, I love recording real moments like this.
The wonderful ceremony was coming to a end and with a passionate kiss the the new Mr & Mrs Baird came walking towards me and out in the gardens.
I quickly set up a large group photo and captured the family portraits and the confetti photo, it was magical to capture so many smiles.
The day really was flying by and soon it was time for us to head into the London Taxi with Bob the the cabbie, and go and capture Naomi & Felix in their photo walk through Brixton town.
All around the happy couple people were waving and saying congratulations, we had to keep the pace up though as like many couples they wanted to spend time with their mates so I moved around discreetly to capture the portraits and set them up using the vibrant tones and the cool back drops which we had practiced in our engagement shoot the month before. It was really great to be creating these images while people where just walking on by and doing their shopping on a normal Saturday afternoon.
We arrived at the fantastic reception venue called Brixton East in Brixton to find the find the Brightside band playing some great music and also the guests enjoying drinks in the upstairs part of the venue.
The atmosphere was electric and everyone greeted the newly weds with a huge cheer.
I moved between the guests capturing candid fun shots of friends hugging, laughing and catching up.
Over the wedding breakfast
guests were treated to the amazing cooking skills of Lisa Anderson and her fab team! and then soon the speeches were underway with many a tear and hard belly laugh, especially when John Burghes delivered his best man’s speech in style.
within a matter of minutes the guests were upstairs and the party was on it’s way with the guests dancing to the excellent covers delivered by The Brightside Band who truly rocked the placed with hit after hit…..
Nai and Felix thank you for choosing me as your photographer and I wish you the very best of Honeymoons!
Below you will see some of my favourite stills from the day.
As ever, I hope you enjoy looking at these wedding photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
